Project: ExxonMobil Adriatic

Project: ExxonMobil Adriatic

Scope: Provide essential power for the LNG Terminal.

For this project we provided the electrical engineering, programing and control modules. A Caterpillar 3612 engine (supplied by MustangCAT) and generator (supplied by Kato Engineering) were used for the essential power of the LNG terminal.

We provided synchronizing and paralleling controls to handle not only the generator's breaker, but also to tie two breakers on the essential bus and the two incoming breakers that fed normal power from the turbines.

On this job we utilized Allen-Bradley's ControlLogix family of PLC's for controls. Field mounted devices were wired to Flex I/O, located in an engine mounted control panel, which allowed all device data to be brought back to the PLC via a single ethernet cable, eliminating costly field wiring. Customer SCADA communications were handled with a Prosoft modbus over serial card.

An Allen-Bradley HMI was provided on the generator's remote control panel, as well as at the engine mounted control panel, allowing for easy local and remote operator interface for monitoring engine status, alarm and shutdown displays, and animated gauges for all analog devices. The HMI allows the ability to change alarms and shutdowns, and also has different levels of password protected access to limit such features from unauthorized users.
